I won! Omigosh!

I have been blogging for what, 15, 20 minutes now? Ok, closer to about a month, and really, my first couple of posts were.. not the best. I wasn't sure at first how open I wanted to be. I considered making the blog private, and just making it a journal for me. But I've been a "lurker" on some blogs lately, and got pretty motivated. So, I dove in. And I've met some pretty cool bloggie buddies. It's nice, as a mom, to feel validated. To know we are not perfect, but neither is anyone else!

One of the first gals to come by and say hello was The (Un)Experienced Mom, who is also a newbie in the "baring your soul to any ol' stranger who wanders by" blogging world. She's awesome, and I totally stole the "Fill in the Blank Friday" from her. (She's working on getting a button, which you better believe will show up here so as y'all have no excuses to not take part!) I'm looking forward to seeing the directions we will each take as we get more comfortable and confident with what we're doing here.

Anyway, in my post about the minivan, she left me a supportive comment in which she acknowledged that it was a totally rational fear (did I mention she's technically a therapist? I mean, she went to school for it and stuff. So, she gets it!) and then she sent me back to her blog to pick up THIS!

Doooooode. She gave me a Best Blogger award.
How cool is THAT!?

Now, it may be that the therapist in her is trying to validate me in some way, but seeing as she isn't listed in my preferred providers list, and I sure haven't sent her a check, I have to think that maybe, JUST MAYBE, she really thinks my blog doesn't totally suck. Cool.

And then, as all mothers do, she threw down some rules. And like any good kid, I'm going to have to challenge them to see where I can draw my limits. It's ok, though, 'cause I know, for a fact, that she fudged on 'em too.

So here are the rules......
To accept the award, post it on your blog together with the name of the person who has granted the award and his/her blog link. Pass the award to 15 other blogs that you have recently discovered and think are great! Remember to contact the bloggers to let them know they have been chosen for this award.

15!? Wow. Ok, well, the challenge is on. First off, this is kind of like tag, and I'm gonna play it with no tag backs, so I'm loving on her blog, but not going to swell Mom's head, experienced or not. (It was her second award in as many days, guys. She could get completely out of control on us! But, if you haven't, you should totally go check her out. You know, here.)

So without further ado, here is my list of winners!

V. O'Brien @ Just Another Day

Annette @ The Smith Family : More Than Conquerors

Mindi @ Part of Me

These 3 ladies will be the recipients of the official badge of "Best Blogger" - BUT...

Here are a couple of other blogs I'm also following in a totally stalker sort of way. I'm not going to ask these folks to repeat this process, I'm just going to point you in their direction! Because I promise, they are TOTALLY worth reading.

Mckmama @ MckMama.com / MyCharmingKids.net - This chick blows my mind. She's got 4 kids, including one with a serious heart condition, and has more fun with what she does than any person has a right to. I mean, really. I want to be her friend. Or keep her in my closet. (Remember that stalking thing I mentioned above? Please note that all of this is pretty tongue-in-cheek. Do not have me arrested or anything, k? Thanks!)

Mama M. @ My Little Life I've not read NEARLY enough here! She is raising 5 kids and working as a nurse, and is freaking adorable to boot. Not sure yet if I love her to death, or hate her! (You know, in that girl way we hate that really awesome other girl? Yeah. Like that.)

And finally, when you need a good laugh, you should check out CakeWrecks. So good, they've published a book. Seriously, an entire blog dedicated to PROFESSIONALLY decorated cakes gone wrong. Except on Sundays, when they showcase really awesome cakes. I have laughed hard enough to have to run to the bathroom in the way only women who have birthed children can understand. It's WAY HARD to run with your legs crossed and your eyes watering.

There you go. A browsing, reading list to have some fun with. And another big thanks to The (Un)Experienced Mom for my really cool award!

  2. Wow...now THAT is an acceptance speech! Great acceptance speech...really!

I defintely felt you deserved it because I could see you were just starting to get comfy in blogging (like me) and I can already tell your blog is going to be great! ;-)

Thanks for all the compliments....so very sweet of you! And I have created the "Fill in the Blank" button, so it's on my blog to steal.

Oh, and this therapist totally thinks it's a rational fear to finally own a minivan...b/c I had it too (and sometimes still do! You know, the whole "Really, I know it's great, but do I REALLY want to be seen in one of these?!)
